New East Carroll Parish Resources Section Launched at AtlasFamily.Org
It's been a LONG time since we've blogged, but we had to make sure we announced that there is a new section of AtlasFamily.Org dedicated to those who are interested in researching their family in East Carroll Parish, LA. This information has been gathered over the last seven years by our research team as we've spent thousands of hours going through records online, at the parish courthouse, on microfilm, at the state archives, at the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City, UT and more. We're pretty sure that there is not another place online that you can go that will give you the amount of information we're giving you regarding what's available on your East Carroll ancestors.
Here's a listing of the pages that we've added to the site:
- East Carroll Parish Basics and Maps - Info on the population there now, parish formation, maps, including links to maps of plantations there prior to the Emancipation Proclamation.
- Genealogy Research in East Carroll Parish - Info on the number of documents and repositories that we've found online and offline for the parish.
- East Carroll Parish Cemetery and Burial Records - Info on cemeteries, burial practices, grave marker lists, and virtual cemetery records. We recently added more than 100 pages worth of burial/gravemarker information for the parish.
- Slavery and Reconstruction - Researching your enslaved ancestors or looking to hop over the brick wall? A list a resources and what's available.
