Timothy Phillips, Sr. was honored on February 25, 2011, by the Milwaukee Times Weekly at the 26th Annual Black Excellence Awards as a special honoree, a history making black educator.  He retired after 33 years of service with the Milwaukee Public School System and is among 30 of the most outstanding educators, businessmen/women, politicians, students or other pioneers in the city of Milwaukee that are honored every year.   This award is WELL deserved and we congratulate him on the honor!

Timothy was the second person in the Atlas family to assume the reigns of tracing our family history.  The work he did was pivotal and was a large contributor to the success that the Genealogy Research Team has had in tracing the family's genealogy.  He is considered one of our mentors, along with John Wesley Atlas, who began the family history project in 1985.
